Catamount Trail

The challenging but rewarding three mile (one way) Catamount Trail provides historic access to the Pikes Peak North Slope Recreation Area located 1,430 feet above the Town. This recreation area includes the North and South Catamount Reservoirs with great views of the Pikes Peak summit. The trail features views of the Catamount Falls and the picturesque Garden of Eden Meadow with its rock formations and seasonal wildflowers.

Directions: park near Gazebo Lake in GMF. Climb either Hondo Ave. or Belvidere Ave. Follow dirt road up to old bridge at waterfall. Look for blue dot trail immediately to right of waterfall and large boulder. Follow blue dots and begin switchbacks through the forest. At base of cliff continue right following blue dot. Further on, pay close attention for Bratton Trail junction (Blue dot with "B" in center). Here, continue climbing up and to the left following plain blue dots up the switchbacks.

rest was built by local volunteers and was completed in 2001.
